The 2 Way Yuyuzan Kocho 620 is a 20 ft. rod designed to extend your reach in bigger water applications where larger fish are likely to reside as well. This is an excellent quality rod and one of the best values from Nissin. The rod is a “2 Way” rod meaning is length is adjustable by either extending the second section or leaving it non-extended by twisting it into a friction stripe on the rod. The 2 Way Yuyuzan 620 very much mimics the handling and specs of the 540 model. The model that we sell is the “Kocho” model, meaning it has a stiffer backbone (i.e. less soft). The rod has an RFI value of 6.7, with a CCS rating of 41 pennies. Translated, this means the Yuyuzan Kocho 620 is a fast action rod, combing a strong backbone with a flexible tip. For such a long rod, it is very well balanced and feels good in the hands. The 620 is great for reaching across big rivers or reaching into bodies of water to target pocket water and deep holes. Net / Net this rod is at HOME in big water landing fish in the 18”+ range.

Nissin’s quality is evident in this rod. The fit n’ finish is top notch, while the grip has a very good non-slip finish to it - important when handling a 20 ft. rod that has a feisty 20” brown on the other end! For those looking for an all around great 20 ft Japanese Keiryu rod, the Yuyuzan 620 is the ticket.

CASTING GUIDE

These are preliminary recommended casting techniques for this rod based on line and presentation used. As always, experiment and refine what works best for you. The Yuyuzan works great with the Orbit Cast for virtually all situations. It may be worth experimenting with the Lob Cast for heavy weighted presentations and the Bow Cast for lighter nymph presentations.
