The Daiwa Keiryu-X 36 is a compact rod like the Mini, but the similarities end there. The Keiryu X is appreciably larger (15.8'“ vs 9.6” and approx. 1.5 ft longer when extended) than Mini. Moreover, it is a much stiffer and stronger rod (it has double the Rod Flex Index, 10 vs. 4.8) giving this rod a real fast action feel to it. And while the Mini holds 15 pennies at its CCS value, the Keiryu X comes in at 36 pennies. With all that said, this is a rod designed to hit deep spots with heavy nymphs (I love it with euro style rigs) and weighted bait / softbait. Finally, this rod feels great in the hand. Its textured, tactile X pattern design provides an excellent, reassuring grip.
